A whole weekend of spoon carving for beginners, newcomers and anyone who would like to practice their spoon carving skills.
You will be camping in the woods, sitting around the all-day campfire, drinking the best campfire coffee, toasting freshly baked sourdough and breathing the freshest of woodland air… All while learning how to carve your very own array of spoons and utensils, using simple hand tools, traditional methods and ancient woodland wisdom.
The workshop is held within private woodland in West Knoyle, Wiltshire - over the whole weekend.
You will only need to bring a few essentials… a tent, a sleeping bag and a torch - Everything else is provided.
By day, you will be learning how to:
- Split and prepare the wood with the use of a small axe.
- Carve out spoon and utensil blanks using various axing techniques.
- Use a straight edged knife and a crook knife - safely and efficiently to create spoons, spatulas and all manner of wooden cooking tools.
By night you will be:
Relaxing around the campfire, toasting marshmallows, perhaps drinking a couple of craft ales and trying out your newly carved wooden utensils, before settling down in your tent for a peaceful nights sleep in the woods.
There will also be:
Delicious campfire breakfasts lunches and dinners created and cooked by woodland chef Nick Tait and an endless supply of snacks, tea and campfire coffee.
Walks in the woods.
Poking and stoking of the all day campfire.
Everyone will leave at the end of weekend with the smell of campfire in their hair and an amazing sense of satisfaction… For not only will you have made your own wooden spoons and utensils, but you will have walked and slept among the very trees they were created from.
